Ccv smoke??

I seem to bee getting a decent amount of smoke coming out of my ccv. How much is too much and is it a sign of something wrong, or goin out? Another thing I noticed when doin my VC gaskets is that my passenger side IC pipe was coated on the inside with an oily residue. Is that bad or am I just paranoid?? Thanks for the input. I got a video of the ccv smoke just need to load it.

Mine smokes too, I was wondering the same thing. My compression is a little low so I think it a sign of blow by.

Any idea about the oily residue in the passenger IC pipe. Here is a pic

Mine smokes like a train, I also have 362K on it too, it passes the cap test with flying colors, has great power, and runs well. I'm not too worried about it. If you put the oil cap on the fill hole upside down and it blows off of there then you've got some trouble. If it just rattles off to the side or doesn't move thats considered "acceptable"

I've 130k and mine runs great with good power. I can't remember if I tried the oil cap test in the past but what kind of trouble are we talking about here? You got me worried. Ha ha ha

Mine is 185K and I'm not worried. Just a little low on compression but then again my motor was cold when I did the compression test. At 130K, unless that motor has been abused, you should be fine.

I would be curious to see some compression numbers on mine as well.

To the op, I wouldn't worry about it. Especially like Glenn said since your motor has relatively low miles. Unless it was run hard and put away wet, you should be good for manny more miles.

It was a fleet vehicle at pacific gas and electric. While I was there they did seem to have a good maintence program but how the employees used and abused the trucks is a toss up. Couldn't pass it up $6500 with only 110k miles.
Any idea why I would be getting all the oil in the IC pipe?

If your ccv isn't connected to your intake it's gotta be coming from either an oil coated air filter or your turbo.

That makes sense because before I did my IC and ccv mod I noticed the intake tube and boot was pretty oily. So I imagine the turbo was too.

If you done the CCV mode the oil is most likely conung from the IC

When the IC was in the SD oil from the CCV made its way into the IC and the that its on your truck the boost is pushing it out.

That's the reason you have oil in the cold side pipe and not the hot

I would agree with that. Take off the turbo side pipe. Is there much if any oil there.
