Awesome hospitality... yea obviously I'm not a v10 fan. I didn't buy the truck with any intentions of keeping it a gasser. Yea I don't like powerstroke either so what? All I asked is why the v10 is so popular, I don't like mine. It does the job but no matter what mods I could do to it I guarantee you I would never be happy with it. I'm as loyal to Cummins as you all are to Ford.
And for the ignorant basher commenting about my p pumped 24 valve, yea I never said the vp44 was a great pump. Some people do the swap for other reasons. P7100 hands down most power and adjustability period. 24V heads flow better that's a fact. The truth is, my truck came to me with this engine and pump setup already done. Also the truck is a 96, it didn't come with a 24V. This was swapped into the truck. Not a pump swap to replace a crappy pump in a 24V. Some people do it for performance or preference. If it was a 12V engine like came in the truck I would still use it. I'm using what I have here.

If you want to make this about Cummins vs. Powerstroke then let's point out that even the VP44 24V was a more successful and cost effective engine than most 6.0's. You can have your v10 , 7.3, 6.0 or whatever makes you happy. I like Cummins. I'm not forcing my opinion on you, simply saying I won't consider anything else.
I do recall mentioning that my 6.8 hasn't given me any problems but I haven't owned it that long. I just don't like it. At all.
Never can recall temps dropping to -30 here, but we had a lot of sub zero temps this winter, and mine had no problem starting. None of my other Cummins engines had trouble starting in any of our winters.

I like how I got wrongly accused of trolling, and locked out of the conversation for asking a simple question. The reason I said I had my flame proof suit on is because I was sure that my question would get taken wrong by some people.

I don't go around being an ******* to anybody. I'm not bashing anyone's opinion. But clearly as long as you are a diehard Ford fan and think any engine Ford offered is the best engine for the application, that's perfectly acceptable here and anyone else is doomed to get banned for voicing any different opinions, or is at least labeled a troll. I never said any one of you are wrong. I was simply trying to understand why anyone thinks so highly of the 6.8. If you simply said "I don't like diesels but want the biggest gas engine offered" that's fine. Or if you said, "its all I could afford or locate" that's fine too. Clearly many of you would rather take it as an insult. Just to play fair, feel free to ask me why I choose a Cummins.
If this gets closed locked whatever or gets me banned then it's no sweat off of my brow. There's a million other forums on the internet. I don't have to be a member here. Was just going I could learn something here but it seems that's not OK.

Logic: my thread got closed and asked to move to a different section if I want to continue it.... I'll open a new one in the same place!!!! Brilliant Watson!

If you're still confused as to why people weren't too impressed, I suggest you walk into the Gaza strip waving the Israeli flag and handing out occupation pamphlets and and I think that might help it sink in.

Several paragraphs of "I'm right, you are all idiots" (in both threads!) and one sentence of "I could learn something here". And you wonder why the welcome mat isn't thrown out in front of you.

Learn this. YOUR opinion is not the all mighty universally correct viewpoint all the time. No need to tell everyone else how wrong their opinion is just to raise up your own opinion. It doesn't work. Might want to think about that in all your relationships, not just with us anonymous internet posters.

Do you have a problem with people not challenging you constantly on your build out thread? Would you feel better if people didn't tell you they thought your project was cool? How about if people just went on and on about how their V10 was clearly the best and couldn't understand why you want a Cummins?

Your project thread appears to be well read and appreciated. Why do you have an urge to claim what you claim now about being oppressed and attacked when you have no real basis for complaint? Maybe you have never been on a forum where there were sore subjects. Clearly, stating your disdain for 6.8s is of no benefit here. Does that show intolerance? At least as much intolerance from your side as anyone's......

What a bunch of narrow minded idiots. This is why I don't get along with Ford sheeple. Think your **** is better without consideration of any other option. I've had dozens of dodges and been happy with them all. I'm not terribly brand biased on vehicles. Dodge does not build nor own Cummins. But it's hilarious all these Ford Cummins swaps, I never seen anyone swap a powerstroke or triton v10 into any other brand truck. Makes me wonder if I'm right!

This has nothing to do with my build thread at all. It is also pretty irrelevant to my preference to Cummins. It's about a bunch of you getting butt hurt when I simply asked why the v10 has such a following, in the world of gas engines I don't really think it's a strong competitor. I'd take a Chevy 6.0 LS motor anyday over the triton 6.8. But I know it's not a Good engine so it must be junk too right...

Wow! Just wow...

Let me go to the Corvette forum and start bashing the Vette, how I love my Charger see how it goes or a Mustang...

Every manufacture have their good and bad in all their engine. No one is perfect, even Toyota. If you want to drive an Excursion gasoline, get a 6.8L

Can you tell me why you like 5.9L Cummins without mentioning Powerstroke, Duramax and V10 6.8L

Cummins swap into your Excursion, how much does it cost?
By the time I buy the engine, adapters, transmission and wiring harness I think it will cost no less than $10k

Meh. Ford put a V-10 in the Excursions for the same reason Dodge put a V10 in their trucks and Chevy put the 8.1L V8 in their trucks. Not everyone wants diesel and you're able to approach more of the market.

These things were marketed to families and ranches alike. A suburban family that wants a large SUV is going to be content with gas to haul people around. People who needed the torque and towability got the PSDs.

It's like asking why Chevy put a 4 cylinder engine in the Camaro. It was because Chevy wanted to sell Camaros and people didn't want to pay a premium for them. Simple marketing and economics.

The V10 doesn't have a 'following' in the same way diesel folks are fanatical about the engine. They were more affordable so more people bought them. I tow a 8000k trailer with my V10 and I'm happy with it. Would I like a 7.3 in my Ex? Sure - but I didn't want to pay the premium, the maintenance and it didn't fit the purpose of what I needed (a lot of short commutes). It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that it was the Ford Triton V10. I think you'll find 90% of V10 owners falling in the same boat. What DOES have the following is the actual Excursion itself.

Chill, build your Cummins Excursion - and let us know how it progresses along the way.

Sorry we haven't yet had a chance to know you a bit more. Many folks have learned tons here on FTE; those that did had one thing in common...

They stopped talking long enough to listen.

I guess my first "Welcome, please don't post like that" fell on deaf ears.

Well, you have a PM now.
