Guys, I need some help, I havnt played around much with motors. But after i got my 226 to start up i cant seam to get it to idol properly. Some times ill start it, it runs fine, others ill start it and it will high rev, Could it be the carb ? Like getting to much air ? Whats the best way to tune the carb ? I see at the base of the carn theres a screw, also on the side arm theres a screw that the linkage runs to the gas pedal. o
Cody, I had what sounds like same problem with my F-2. Ross correctly diagnosed it as a worn throttle plate brushing. The flap in the bottom of the carb would **** on and off and give a fast one time and when I unscrewed the throdel linkage it would start idling too slow. You might need to have the carb rebuilt.
Cody, the screw you're referring to is the 'idle air mixture' adjustment. More of a thumb screw on my 7HT anyways.
The adjustment's too easy.
Start engine, allow it to warm up to normal operating temp, turn screw ~in~ till the motor starts to idle rough, back the screw ~out~ till the idle smooth's out.
Honest, that's it. Take your time with this till you like what you hear. Hope this helps.
