T-case speedo question
T-case speedo question
Hi guys,
Ive got a 1984 F-250HD 4x4 4 speed 6.9 IDI and a few months ago the speedometer quit. I took out the speedo gear out of the t-case and spun it so im guessing its all good from the speedo gear to the speedometer itself, that leaves the gear in the t-case. Well my question is, what does it take to replace that little gear on the t-case output shaft, and where can i buy it? Ive been searching and i cant find that one ANYWHERE!!
Any help/knowledge would be GREATLY appreciated!

You need a speedo gear for a BorgWarner 1345 case. Changing the gear requires removing the rear yoke and the gear will slide out the back.
this site lists the 8T gear

If you have 3.54 gears like me you need this gear, along with the wine colored 16T driven gear.

Thank you! Ive got 3.54s and when it was working it was dead on so im sure its the right one. The gear on the cable looks in really good shape, so i dont think ill need to replace it. Is it much of a job to pull the rear yolk?
The rear yoke take a big socket, just unhook the shaft the take that big nut off, IIRC the is a metal washer with a rubber washer behind the nut, you may want a new rubber washer. Once the yoke is off the gear slides out the back.
Here's the part number
