My 66 doesn't have that bracket.

Possibly a bracket for an aftermarket front sway bar, installed by a front end shop or RV dealer.

No factory sway bars were available until 1973.

Could it be a hitch for a snow plow? ....a cow catcher? (A cow catcher would require some more mounts up near the core support, or clearance for them anyway.) How about one of those things that allows it to ride on railroad tracks.

Mount for a steering stabilizer......basically a shock absorber for the steering. The other end would connect to the tie rod.

X2 on that, have one one the front of my 66 4x4 that looks like it.
