Tuned?

Is there a way to tell if you have a tuned motor or not? Reason I ask is 1. I'm getting 18 to 20 mpg (non towing ) 2. I went half throttle to pass a car as I was doing 68 mph and when I got around them I was doing 90--wth?

Far as I know truck is stock--no mods of any kind. Motor is 100% (which is why I bought it) and knew the 6.0 has power but dang.

Seems like my stock truck as well. It is an animal as is. I can only imagine what a good tune would do. I just don't want to risk any damage to head gaskets/bolts, although many stock bolt guys run tunes. Right now I just do not see the need to do so.

Same here. There was a time when I was younger I'd be all over a tuner. More of a laid back and save money kinda guy now.

My 6.0 has way more power than any other gasoline truck I have ever owned. The teptation is out there to tune it, but it runs perfect as is and i figure why mess with a good thing

Been running an Edge CS Tuner & some other Mod's on my 6.0 for the last 2.5 years (with Stock TTY Head-Bolts) & I pull a 31 ft 5th-Wheel....No Issues
Let's just say my old V10 felt under-powered compared to my 6.0

I have been running a hypertech programmer on mine for two years with stock bolts,in the next month or so I will be going with a sct with custom tunes.

I know that the tuners can be used on the stock TTY bolts, but after coming from my old 97 F350 DRW that was 351 gas powered, this 6.0 is an animal.

I tuned for EGR delete and run the canned trans only tune. That is all this truck does is pull and I don't want to blow head gaskets, nor do I need more horsepower.

No EGR delete, yet, but I feel the same as you. I like to drive the truck around unload some, as I just like it, but most of the time it is towing.

Horsepower isn't the key here. Where it all starts is torque, and what RPM range that torque is available. Horsepower is just a caululation of torque and RPM.

Horsepower = torque X RPM / 5252
