What do these put out 325? Feels like more especially for this size vehicle
In my opinion, I think it might be the monster torque numbers that make it feel that way. I think it is in the neighborhood of 600 ft/lbs and that is huge. Torque is what gets you going, and horsepower is what keeps you going.
Horsepower isn't the key here. Where it all starts is torque, and what RPM range that torque is available. Horsepower is just a caululation of torque and RPM.
Peak torque on a typical gas v8 is around 4-5k RPM, an impractical range for average work. Our engine peaks at 2k RPM. So, not only do we a lot more peak torque, but it peaks at a VERY useful RPM range.

Very interesting stuff.
That is why I do not get the argument that a gasser is as good as a diesel for towing. I have towed with both and the difference is unreal. Hearing my old 351 scream up hills at a low speed was nerve racking. The diesel eases up those same hills at more highway friendly speeds and keeps me much more relaxed when towing. Sure, a gasser can get it done, but you know those higher engine speeds are wearing on that engine and the lifespan of it.
This is one reason I didn't like my F250 gasser. It got it's grunt from the 4.10 gears--I hated that when it comes to driving on the road. Thats fine for using it like you use a tractor or other equipment but for using for driving the roads--not for me.
I agree. Anyone who says a gasser pulls almost as good as a diesel, has never pulled with a diesel. Probably can't afford one, and is too proud to admit their truck isn't the best.

Ha--not sure if I can afford a diesel but giving a go lol

My thoughts as well. So far it has not been much more expensive, as it is not my daily driver and neither was my previous gasser, but I will make it work for the relaxed towing experience, and the nicest truck I have ever owned.

Mine is daily driver and for sure the nicest truck I've had ( prior was a new 92 full size Bronco I wish I still had) only expenses so far has been fuel, filters, and misc jump for getting fuel out of the tank. There is alot I WANT to do as far as preventative goes but that will come when the "just purchased" expense wears off. I do fully know what to expect as far as maintenance goes and doesn't seem too bad and thanks to this sight 99.9% of all work that may come up I can do myself even injector cleaning (read that one last night)
