Electric Power Steering
Some info. A while back I made a post of how on a cold morning down here in the deap South (no -o weather), but below freezing. My girlfriend's 2011 Ford F150 steering wheel would not move. The weather got a little warmer that day and it finally would turn. But when she left for work again the next morning in below freezeing weather the steering would not turn again.
She has the 3.7L with electric power steering. After the steering wheel not moving incidents the steering started making a grinding noise. It sounded like it needed greasing. It has steadily got worse. I jacked it up and looked at it again this weekend. I noticed that the passenger side boot had a pretty big tear in it. Something I have never seen before. Could water have gotton in the boot causing the steering to freeze up on those cold mornings? Could not see where the tear in the boot had been slinging out grease or anything. Also after the steering froze up the "service advance track" would come on at random causing the blikers not to work.
Thought that maybe some recalls where made on the eps. Any advice would be appreciated.
