92 7.3/e4od code 62

Well I was hoping I found my problem with a wet , dirty and broken clips on my trans connector. So far that hasn't been the case.
Lockup appears to be working , moderate acceleration uphill Apx 35 mph converter lockup up and the Ol 7.3 pulls through nicely..
TPS seemed fine when last checked..and as far as I can tell speedo and tach seem to be working ok...
Trans fluid needs changing (not bright red anymore) but still shifts good and is slightly over the cross hatch Apx 1/8" on the dip stick
Not sure where to go from here..? Seems as though confirming lock up in 3rd was easier than in 4th... not sure if that makes sense. .
Maybe I will start with a fluid/filter change and rig a light for lock up to monitor. I also did use the dielectric grease
Thanks

if the clip was wet, dirty and the clip was broken, then my bet is on corrosion in the plug, possibly up the wires a bit,and down inside the solenoid pack connector.
you might try just replacing the clip since it's broken anyway,it'll never seal correctly.this way here, you can cut up the wire a ways to make sure you get into bright copper.the repair harness's are generously long for this.
flush the s-pack out with e-cleaner and use a mirror and light to closely inspect the pins.if in doubt, just drop the pan and pull the pack so you can get a good look down in there and possibly clean the pins right up real nice with it out.
since you need to do a flush anyway,it's right there under the pan and comes out easily.

it can't be stressed how important the connector here is.if you get tot codes, converter slip code, eec codes, the odds are you've got corrosion here.if this connectors clip gets broken, that's all she wrote.it's only a matter of time before it gets contaminated and corrods the pins on both sides.

Thanks.. I will start there...Fluid filter change..pull the sol pack...clean terminals and install a new harness side conector..
Anything special about the seal on the sol pack or is it just a standard o ring?
I have some mercron V hanging around ..not sure what this thing calls for...
My conector wires are not bare but it's hard to see how clean they are..
sounds like a good place to start
Thanks for the link

you shouldn't need to replace the o-ring on the s-pack unless you found ATF in the connector.either way, make sure the trans body is cleaned well before re-installing (watch crap doesn't fall inside trans) and lube the o-ring well with petroleum jelly before pressing back in the case.
E40D transmission solenoid O ring E40D transmission gaskets

perhaps a local trans shop or ford dealer would have one in stock too.

mercon v is the fluid you want.
