As I was driving my van all day yesterday, I noticed that my wipers don't run on high speed when they're set to high. When I switch them from low to high, they start moving a tiny bit faster at first, then gradually slow down to less than normal low speed. Switching them back to low then increases their speed to the normal low speed.
My van came without intermittent wipers, but I added that feature a couple years ago by installing a factory original switch with the box behind it from another van which had that feature. That side of things works like it should.
At this point, I really don't know if I should suspect the switch or the motor for my poor performance. What do y'all think
I would try Installing a normal switch first....that way if it is still slow you know your motor is tired...I think I have one....I could look and let you know ......I might even have a motor lying around
Had a similar problem some years ago on a POS '97---it too worked on slow, didn't change speed. Oddly enough this condition came on suddenly, no real warning etc.
Changing the motor restored proper operation. That might be your cure too but as Blaguert suggests try swapping out the added switch first to make sure that's not the problem.
IIRC NAPA has a reman'd wiper motor for about $67.
