When you test the glow plugs with an ohm meter, you should read 2 ohms or less. Anything more than two ohms and you should replace the glow plug.
As for the leaking injetors, it's probabely the leak off tees on top of the injector. Replacing the tees and both orings under the tee will more than likely fix the leak.
Hope this helps.
How close do you have the timing set to spec? 10 minutes isnt enuf to get the engine to start without glow plugs (in my opinion) and you may be having a problem with the temp sensor that controls the glow plug controller.
Everything else is about what I would guess.
I wouldnt use too much ether - it could make a boom and that would make you unhappy.
on my injector leaks i just had to replace the o rings. It ran a whhole lkot better and smoked ess if your injectors suck in air your truck will smoke bad and run like crap so just let it idle and check for the leaks then replace the o rings at the leaks.I also have a push button rigged up for the glow plugs and if you have one to they easily burn out or have your glow plug switch in your ignition checked out.
Start the engine and let it idle. The leaks will show up where the plastic caps go onto the injectors. Beneath the caps are 2 orings that seal the return line system for the unused fuel.
