IDM issue... I Think???

Hi all. A while ago I posted a issue with my 95 7.3...

Hears the story again.... Truck was running fine then I had a stall at a light. Started up and went home. In the morning I went out to start and it barely started sounded like it was only running on 6 or 7 cyl.. Limped it to the shop. Hooked up my AE and did a injector buzz test. Got a fault on the 6 & 8 bank. Pulled valve cover and saw a burnt pin on a glow plug for #6. Figured it was taking out 6 and 8 injectors.
Got a aftermarket gasket with the built in injector harnesses and two new pig tails. Installed them and tried to start... Not a thing Hmmm.
Hooked up AE and attempted to do another buzz test. Nothing buzzed...

It seems to me im not getting any action from the IDM

Im kinda stumped Any suggestions would be great Thanks in Advance

Double check the wiring on the pigtails. They are easy to get a wire crossed. Have you unbolted the IDM and given it the shake test yet to see if there is water in it?

No Shake test yet. I will yank it off tomorrow. I hope I got the wires correct, the colors on the new pigtails were a bit different from the harness. Does anyone know the colors for the oem harness for injector plugs 2, 4, 6, & 8 ??

There was a wiring diagram of that floating around on here a while back. I can't remember who posted it though.

You still have the old pigtails you cut off? Should be able to look at those if you still have them.

haha the 6, 8 pigtail was replaced befor I bought the truck and the 2, 4 pitail I cut off wires tight to plug so I had some wire to work with

Im sure I got the 2, 4 pigtail correct.....Maybe screwed up the 6, 8....

If I did get a wire crossed, would that stop a buzz test?? I did disconnect each plug and tried a buz test wit one plug disconnected and nothing happened... No Buzz

If you only worked on the driver's side, the passenger side would still buzz regardless if you messed up the driver's side pigtails.

Swapping in a spare IDM, or borrowing a buddy's IDM to try will certainly help narrow it down and only takes a few minutes.
An IDM from any year truck from '94.5 - '03 will work.

Go by position rather than (or along with) insulation color. Front to back, it's #6 GP, #6 injector, common, #8 injector, #8 GP.

Does AE at least communicate? Can it scan for codes?

Yes my AE communicates just fine.
I just replaced pigtails on drivers side.
I will try to find another IDM and give that a try
Thanks

I think it could depending on what is crossed. The high side (120 volts) is shared by all injectors (center pin) so if the IDM saw a short it would try to protect itself. Try unplugging both drivers side connectors and re-do buzz test.

OK #8 maxi fuse is good
IDM shake seems good....it looks sealed up still
Is it hard to open up?? Looks like the edges are crimped to keep it closed. I was thinking about opening and see if there r any burnt things inside??
