Front bumper question

Hey guys i have a 2000 f250 7.3. Im looking to put a ranch hand bumper on the front. a guy near me is selling a ranch hand for a 2012 f250. will his bumper be able to fit on my truck? Thanks so much

My main concern is will the mounting bracket line up with my truck. Im not to worried if theres a little gap between the bumper and grill. just want to make sure the mounts would line up.

The frame horns on the 2008 up trucks were significantly lowered 6" or 8", compared to the 1999 - 2007 truck frames. Ford advertised that they did this to eliminate the former "Blocker Beam" and to be more collision compatible with the front bumpers of smaller vehicles.

The frame horns sort of extend straight outward on our 2000 trucks, but dip downward quite a bit on the 2008 forward trucks, including the 2012. Without seeing the mounting flanges of the Ranch Hand, my guess is that some type of transition bracketry might need to be fabricated.

I just bought it for $200! Thanks for the link! The guy said someone else was interested (was that you?) but Cash in hand gets the Ranch Hand!

(just kidding, I'm 3,000 miles away).

Picture #1 makes it seem like it would work for you. Picture #5 makes it apparent that it probably won't without substituting the removable bracket that ties inside the frame were the tow hooks are.

I thought about suggesting you call Ranch Hand for just the substitute brackets, but then noticed (again in image #5) that the mounting plate relative to the bumper wings is way lower than it would be on a 2000 stock bumper. So nevermind the grille gap... I think the bumper wings would collide with your fenders and parking lights.

If you intend to use the hitch on that Ranch hand, you will definitely need to attach the bumper to more than just the OEM bumper mounting flanges. The OEM bumper mounting flanges are welded to the front frame horns in a "breakaway" fashion, to deform and dissipate low speed crash energy without jacking up the frame itself. Not strong enough for a line pull on a winch. One must use the tow hook mounting points in that pass through the frame itself. This is where the bracket fitment for the correct model year group might get critical.

Again, my comments are only based on the pictures shown. I've never installed a Ranch Hand bumper before.... but I've installed and modified the OEM bumper and hidden winch and receiver mounts on 99-03 trucks about 5 or 6 times. I found some old prints of my installation from 13 years ago, where I installed a front receiver hitch and 15K LB winch and a factory front bumper without using the OEM bumper mounting flanges at all, because they are too weak to support moving a trailer around the yard, and too weak to support the line pull rating of the winch.

The factory tow hook holes were used, and the tow hooks themselves were extended forward with a gusseted 1/2" plate of HSLA steel. A strong multipoint mounting through the frame is important if the bumper replacement is to be a "working" bumper.

whew!!!!! u had me good. made my heart stop for a bit

so it sounds like its going to be more work and hassle to get this and try to make modifications for it to fit properly.

Is that what the group thinks?

When I was looking at one for my '09, the '11-up would not fit. Don't see it working without a lot of mods.

yea. cabindoc ended up selling the almost new ranch bumper he took off his 2010 when he traded it in on the 2012, only to find out it would not fit the 2012. he ended up selling it at a swap meet to a guy that swore he was going to put it on his new dodge.
