But in 1979, the IDIOTS finally woke up.

1979: G = C4 / K = C6.

C6 first offered with 300 & 302 in 1978, but C4 was also offered.

Race Track mouldings: 1977/79 Ranger XLT & 1978/79 Lariat.

1973/76 F100/350 Ranger XLT's came with upper side mouldings w/a black vinyl insert.

The fender/door and cab corner mouldings w/black vinyl insert are the same for Race Tracks.

The Race Track bed mouldings w/black insert are different as they have a curved section at the rear for the vertical mouldings (29396 R/S in pic) to attach to.
Thanks Bill

I have looked all over
Can't seem to find a Lariat
With the KN color scheme.

Light Medium Blue = K

Light Pine Green = N

You ever see this color combo?

Anybody have picts of one?

Or the original codes

3181. H is the pine green

3187 H or 3170 the blue
Have to get proper codes.

What the hell do these codes refer to?
Something smells and it ain't hay.

*BODY code KB4: KB = Blue Vinyl & Blue Cloth (Ranger XLT & Lariat) / 4 = Styleside Pickup.

The COLOR code on the Warranty Plate is KN .. correct?

Blue and green exterior makes no sense, so I would assume that Light Medium Pine is not a shade of green.

*mikeo0o0o0 is using the 1973/79 catalog on a C/D, available from hipoparts.com. It was scanned from the 4/1980 edition, so it has some errors and omissions.

I have this same C/D, but I also have the 10/1988 final edition on microfiche...which is much more accurate.

Trans & Axle code

Here are the Axle codes for the Ranger XLT

Trans = K - C6

Axle = 06J - ???

Edit:
Looks like a 77 up 9"

2.73 ratio open carrier

Power steering front.
Can't find info for it on my
Charts. Not shown for 79?

I have old books. Any updated axle codes.

Thanks again
Getting it sorted out

What color is the truck?

H = DARK BROWN METALLIC / Brown and blue makes no more sense than blue and pine.

But if it's M instead of H then it does make sense, as it's blue and WHITE / M stamped on Warranty Plates may resemble an H

Open your peepers and take a close look at the COLOR code again, or take a pic of the Warranty Plate and post it.

Looks deformed like a
N. H. M

Guess it is "M"
Light blue and white.

Are there number codes for this or just letter designation?

Sorry about the confusion.
Thanks.

Anything handy
The only "Tag" is on the drivers side inside the door on the body not the door. It is a blue metal tag that says on Line #1 "Replacement Identification Number". Line #2 says "Vin F14HREE4322". Line #3 says "Control No: 420968"

What you see on the Warranty Plate for the COLOR code is all there is: KM

For the unaware: Warranty Plate located (riveted) on the left door face below the latch.

Safety Standard Certification Label glued to the B pillar below the striker plate.

Parts catalog lists the part numbers for the touch up paint.
