Hello all,
I am new to the flat head v 8 club and have a silly question. I just received my fathers old 36 ford pick up with the flat head 8. I went to change the oil and was shocked when after putting in only 2 1/2 quarts it read full on the dip stick. This seems a little low to me. The truck has a 85 horse with out a oil filter. any help would be great.
Something doesn't sound right. A flathed should hold 4 quarts w/o filter, 5 with filter. Are you sure the dipstick is the right one? Or that all the oil came out of the motor?
Can't be sure about the dip stick. I did drain all the oil though. after start up I did get 3 quarts in to full on the stick. That still sounds low to me though.
