Resurrecting "The Turd"
Resurrecting "The Turd"
Originally this thread was directed to Cody, since it has turned into a resurrection of my old truck aka "The Turd" this truck has been a pain in the rear for me and has nearly cost me marriage numerous times! Lol

I'm certainly not Cleatus, but hopefully he gets in touch with you. This might make for an interesting thread though. At least my curiosity is up! And I bet I ain't the only one. Hope you get your truck fixed.

X2 on no phone number. There is a lot of weirdos out there. Look who got reelected. Just goes to show that at least half of the population are idiots.
Seriously though. Phone number open like that is bad juju....

2. Bulla has had such a disastrous run with his truck (worse than Stinky), that Dave feels there's something wrong with the truck that falls under the categories of "Major" and "Mysterious".
I can't blame him for being nervous, he needs reassurance and a nudge more than he needs big tech help. After talking with Dave last night, here's the rundown:
2001 350 dually 3.73. He washed down a cylinder - real bad. Pulled engine, bought parts, had engine rebuilt, installed engine. Many new parts other than the rebuild, including IH AC injectors, Ford sensors, and a BTS transmission. Went on a module-swapping rampage (test parts accessible). Removed some stuff too, like the EBPV. DP Tune 80E in PCM, F5 with a spread of DP tunes. Lacks power - shifts like a train wreck. BTS chip is on the way. He tows crazy-heavy in LA/TX, and the truck itself weighs about 9500 pounds.
Bulla stomps on the throttle and the truck barely gets out of its own way. I know this can point to an ICP, IPR, MAP, O-rings, TPS, wrong PCM, tuning, and a few other things. Coupled with the rough shifts, this sounds like it could be two problems at the same time. I neglected to ask Dave if the EBPs was replaced (he mentioned he replaced the tube, but no mention of the sensor). Dave has AE, he's dusting it off, and he's taking a refresher AE class. Idle validation switch active longer than normal on throttle, but this could be a distraction.
Bulla - your history with this truck is making you expect the worst, and I don't blame you. You have a shiny new-like truck and it's pretty much done... you just need to find a couple of loose ends and you'll be wearing that permagrin you've been looking for. Here are the PIDs we need logged to get a reference point:
Bump the MAX on the MAP to 60, and put TPS in place of the transmission temperature (0 - 100%).
I will probly delete the thread in a few days if no response from him. I will start a new thread with a background and an up to date status. Then I will start back looking deeper into it. Good seeing you guys, amazing what a jeep can do to you.
David, I was merely trying to give advice, not trying to bust your *****. I can't imagine how frustrated you are right now, and Cody know his stuff. I hope he sees this and gets with you.
David, I drove your truck before the engine rebuild correct?
& it's still sluggish?
I thought night and day as to what could be wrong & I'm still at a loss. I hope Cody chimes in. This has to be driving you crazy...
Good to see ya btw.

Wow, I forgot you drove frank. At least I'm not the only one that knows the feeling! But yea the motor was rebuilt last month. I'm tellin ya, I thought for sure a fresh engine would make a difference, but it just reaffirms me that the issue is somewhere else.
