random beep/siren

hey all, on my 94 f150 5.0 e4od, i was deep in though the other day while i was starting it, and i paused in between the on and start position, i then got the crap scared out of me when a beep or siren like tone went off, it was like a beeeeep beeeep beeep beeeep and it goes off after 3 or 4 beeps. anybody know what this is, it cant be the headlight door ajar horn because that is unplugged, any help is appreciated, this is confusing the crap out of me

Has it continued to beep, or did this just occur while holding the key between the "ON" and "START" positions? Does your airbag light illuminate with the other warning lights briefly when turning the key to "ON"?

yes, the airbag lights up, the beeping stops as soon as the engine is started even if you start it after the first beep, it wont continue to beep. but it will beep everytime you hold it between the start and run

Only controllers in the truck (stock) that can make noise are the warning chime module and the airbag monitor. Gotta be one or the other.

Airbag module will chime 5 times in 5 groups if the warning light is out, which with the ignition switch halfway between positions it damn well might be not sending power to the cluster yet, but still energizing the airbag monitor.

Let it make noise while you search around for the source... should be pretty obvious where it coming from.

So it doesn't beep unless holding the key between "RUN" and "START"...why are you holding the key between positions?

i was thinking real hard and wasnt paying attention that i had it in between positions when it beeped, scared the crap out of me and i noticed the key was in between the two

Quit holding it between positions and it won't beep. Problem solved.
