Looking for help I have 1996 ford class A motor home with a 460 tried to start and all I get is a click the click is coming from the Starter relay fuse ..got new battery cleaned terminal really good .. but only get the click???? Head lights dash all good...
tap the relay a couple times and try again.sometimes they stick in the cold.
if no luck with that, jump the two large posts together with a couple screw drivers (with trans in park or N with e-brake set if manual.plus stand to the side, not in front of vehicle) and see if it starts then.......don't get run over.
The start solenoid is not clicking the little square relay on fuse box I put new one in and still clicks I'm getting 12v at starter relay and solenoid. I turned key to the on position and I get 12v to the starter but just a click?
I read somewhere that if you put a test light to the starter+ and try to start and if the light comes on when it clicks its the starter? Not sure if true..
I am not sure what you are talking about.
The starter relay or the starter solenoid now on the starter have nothing to do with any relays in the relay/fuse box in front of the radiator.

Most of the time when the starter relay does not click and you hear a click from the relay box it because you are not in P or N. Or at least the RV does not think so. Try moving the gear shift stalk and see if it does not start.
Well I tried to move transmission lever to neutral and park and tried to start but no luck? I went ahead and took out the stater and had it tested Starter and its solenoid was working just fine....... guy told me it has to be the starter relay or the ignition switch?? Any one no were the starter relay would be on this 1996 rv sun voyager. And how to test it???
Was not the starter relay that I suggested that might be bad first in post #3 above?
The large nuts are 9/16" wrench size and the small screws that hold it on are 5/16" wrench size.
There are three wiring eyes (one large wire and two small wires) that go on the far stud and only one on the near stud.
If you hear the one click each time you turn the key the Ignition switch should be OK.
If the one click is coming from the circuit breaker beside the Fuse Relay box or from a relay in the fuse relay box in front of the radiator then it could be the Ignition switch or TR sensor on the drivers side of the transmission.
If you are hearing more than one click like a raped fire gun when you turn the key then you have bad battery connections, cables or a low battery.
Starter Relay, yours is in the same place as the one in the image below:
Subford, this morning I installed my starter back.. looked for the relay like on your picture but I do not see anything that looks like that relay? There is a square relay like the one in fuse box right were you are talking about could that be it..... I wigged a little, and went to start it and WOW it started????? So now I'm just wondering what did it? Everything on the starter and solenoid was tight?
Opps !!!!! No I did not look in there at all...... so that said in your opinion what you think way it started now??? Bad connection at starer solenoid??
