Is there anyone out there that's ever seen a 57-60 F100 Customcab without a factory 2-tone paint job? Did they ever build any with just one solid color? I don't think I've ever seen a Customcab made in those years that was'nt 2-tone, but maybe I'm wrong. Just thought I'd ask!
4speed- That's a nice truck! I remember when it was on Ebay!
My 58 is a lighter shade of green, I think they call it "Meadow Green" and it is one solid color from the factory, not 2-tone like yours. I'm starting body and paint on it pretty soon and was thinking of a 2-tone color combo. Can't decide if I want to keep it the way it came originally. That green kinda grows on you after awhile!
Yup, I've seen both solid, and two-toned Custom Cabs.
The '57-'60 Custom Cabs did indeed come from the factory in solid colors. Two-tone paint was optional.
An original two-tone paint job would be reflected on your rating plate, in the form of a "two letter" code for "color". One of these two letters always stands for "white".
Thanks 58' it's not really that nice, you'd have to see it in person to know what I mean. If your restoring your truck I would highly recommend keeping it the original color. Try and post some pics if you could I would like to see your truck. -4speed
ok now did the whole truck ever come one color, and i mean everything. bumpers, grill, rims, inside, outside. mine is this olive drab, that may have shined at somepoint in the past. i'm just getting ready to start stripping some paint, thought i would start with grill work to see if there was chrome under it at one time
if i read the id tag right it was originally aegian green.

p.s. we are only second owners (ma bell was the other)
Hey whats up dog?-(been waiting to use that) No truck from the factory ever came one solid color with grill and all. There was chrome bumpers and grill and a Ivory color. Your truck could of been used by military but it would have a special dash plaque. -4speed

my family is second owners ma bell(now pacific bell)telephone company was original owner, but the paint job doesnt look second generation a little stripping will answer it though.my question is if the grill and headlight covers where chrome, and if chrome is under the green paint how should i strip the paint, there is no rust so maybe the chromes in decent shape. i can be hopeful

I'm pretty sure if Ma Bell wanted 10,000 trucks from Ford, then Ford would paint them any color Ma Bell wanted. If you can check your rating plate, I think the paint code would be "S" or "SS" for special and the DSO would show a Domestic Special Order code if this truck was originally purchased as part of a fleet.
Wow thanks for all your inputs on this subject! It'll help me when the time comes. I'll probably keep it original "N" code on the paint, no 2-tone. I did'nt really like it when I first got it, (really faded badly), but when I took the emblems off it was like fresh paint underneath! Gives a better idea of what it will look like later! Sorry I don't really have any good pics of it at this time, it is totally stripped to the frame. Frame is being painted and engine being built at this time, getting ready to start on the body. When I get some good pics, I'll post them. Thanks for the answers!
