aux. fuel tank
Well, I have a 72 2wd crew cab. I got a plastic tank from a 79 crew cab. The 73-79 crews share the narrow rear frame width as the 67-72 2wds . This particular tank came from a f350 camper special. It mounts behind the rear axle in between the frame rails. I plan on installing a fuel filler in my bed side to look factory but you could probably rig a filler hose from the wheel well if you don't want to weld in a filler door. The plastic tank is less than 20 gallons, it has an additional crossmember that bolts in to mount it and a skid plate and various heat shields. I also found a 67 f250 with an auxilary tank that mounts under the cab and bed with a filler throught the upper bed side towards the front. It looks factory, but the filler intrudes into the inner portion of the bed with a sheet metal housing to shield it from cargo. I also swiped the rear shock mounts and sway bar from the 79 which is a rare find since they fit the narrow frame. I will get some pics if you need them.

Yes, they had a factory aux tank that mounted under the bed and cab. It is the one with the cutout into the bed for the filler tube. I was able to find a setup right here from one of the other members. I think it will work fine. The bigest difficulty with it for me has been locating a sending unit. I'm going to try to modify a 73 rear tank sending unit.
