Evaporative emission line

Just put my in-cab tank back in my 76 highboy. Truck originally built in San Jose, so had evaporative emission line running to canister up front in engine bay. That canister is long gone. Can I just block off this line?

Yes. Just be sure to use a vented fuel cap.

Thanks Mike. I found one NOS canister for $225. Not to keen on spending that much for it.

I have both fuel tanks off on my '79 and they have vent valves going into the tops of each tank with short lines along the frame which vent to atmosphere.

CA smog tests 1976 and newer vehicles. All the original emission equipment has to be in place and in working order.

If the vehicle cannot pass smog, it cannot be registered. There's no waiver if the parts are obsolete, it's fix it or park it!

1976 F100/350's sold new in CA would have PCV, Evaporative Emission. T/E (Thermactor Emission-smog pump) and an EGR valve.

The hoses are not short nor do they vent to atmosphere. The hoses route along the right frame rail to the valve on the charcoal canister under the hood. Someone removed the canister.
