Wow!!!! I think I would be sleeping in the parking lot until I got it home!! I could only dream of spending 20,000 on a chassis. Jegs had a package deal on the coyote with the engine control package, on sale also. Good luck and enjoy.

Wow. that's Purdy. I would probably park it next to the fireplace in the livingroom and charge admission for awhile.

I do plan on showing it a few times before I drive it often. It would be nice to win a competition or two.

As for parking it in the livingroom, wifey isn't exactly happy about me building a truck in the first place! But I figure I will listen to her complaining about as much as she listens to my complaining about spoiling the kids;-) Anyways, I'm the biggest kids and need to be spoiled!!

Probably about as much as the rest of the chassis combined (from a guy with a complete TCI chassis set-up with a standard 9").

That is a beautiful chassis, congrats! Kugal has always been top flight for suspensions. They started as I recall using E Jag. The chassis could be the beginning of a very slippery and steep slope that can end in a show only truck due to total $ put into the project. Someone needs to build the show trucks, just not me. Hats off to building at that level, I do like viewing them.

I do worry about becoming like my friend in school - having a truck too expensive or too special, etc, to drive on a semi-daily basis!

Trailer queens are OK for really rich people, but I like to be able to drive it. Hope you don't get too crazy and really never enjoy it!

In the end, I know myself and it will be a semi-daily driver. I'm fairly practical, despite the showiness so far, and don't like having things just for show. Though I won't mind how nice I envision it looks in my mind right now!

I do not see what year truck you are building/the chassis is designed for. It looks like the clutch pedal location is outside the frame rail. I know that is not the case on 48-52. Is that the location on 53-56?
What are you looking to build on that fine chassis.

The chassis is for a 53-56 and I had originally planned on the '56. Last couple of weeks I've wavered between the 56 and the slant cab of the '55 (or '54 & '53)

I got a full custom handbuilt chassis done nearly 15 years ago.....similar spend to you! I have never regretted it.

One thing I realised years ago was - after you have a solid foundation, you don't need to do much at all to have a cool truck.

No matter what color (or patina), wheels, engine, interior - (cover a bench in black leather, DONE) it's gonna be super cool due to the solid and sporty stance!

Just use a stock motor with some chrome sprinkles, then drive the snot out of it!!!! (you wouldn't avoid driving a $35k Mustang would you????)

One on the road is worth ten in the garage.....if getting a chassis built gets you there quicker, then it was money well spent!

Congrats!

A friend of mine, when I first got my truck, tried to talk me into buying a rolling frame. It would have saved a lot of time, but I do enjoy doing the work. In the long run, including my time, it probably would have been less money and done by a professional shop. After looking at yours I might just do that on my next one.

That is a beautiful chassis Jerry...here is a photo to give you something to consider along the lines of our discussion last Saturday. This is a 53 slant cab with a 53 grille. However, the grille has been modified to incorporate 56 headlights...a picture is worth a thousand words.

Chuck - that is just what I want to be driving around!! And after hours of perusing the intertubes, I still think I like the slant-cab a bit more than the '56's vertical columns.
