I finished the heater bypass mod. this morning, and I just checked the output, it is 52 degrees after 5 min on max ac in the shade on high idle. Didn't check it before, it this good?

What truck do you have? 52 degrees is not good after making this mod. Try measuring it when you are driving. Sometimes when on idle, the temp goes up. I have seen a couple posts where the output is consistently in the low to mid 40's under any circumstance after making the mod. For some reason, not too many people who have done this post their actual temps.
My truck's a/c is not satisfactory and I can get 45 degrees in the shade in the morning, with outside temps under 70 degrees, when truck is first started. After the engine warms up, and / or if it is over 80 degrees outside, the best I can get is 52 degrees at the center vent. This will only cool the inside of my cab to 80 or 85 degrees if the sun is out and esp. if temps are in 90's or higher. If I use the vent only setting on a cool day, the outside ambient air is warmed up significantly. I would expect that to stop when I make the modification.
It's a '01 Powerstroke. I ran it on the highway, and got the same thing. Maybe the valve isn't working as it should? I started it in the vent position when it was cool and turned on ac and drove it. So no water should have got past the valve. when I got back the hoses behind the valve were as hot as the ones in front of it. what is everyone's best idea on how to test this thing? Maybe take off the rear hoses and start it up, if something comes out--not working. Keep in mind I hooked to the red vac line. I don't know.

Sure sounds like it is not working. I can't offer any ideas except for a bad valve, but I have not seen anything other than successes with this mod posted here, so that may be unlikely. Maybe someone who has actually done this on a psd will come along and help. When you get it figured out, please post the details of what was going on. Thanks
Fixed it this afternoon. Went over everything to see if I did anything wrong, and found nothing. I was getting good vac in the hoses. So I hooked the vac back up and saw my actuator rod in back of the valve wasn't moving, then pressed it a little with my finger. That was it, apparently it just need a little help to close that first time. Turns off and on like a champ now. Soon as I get a chance I'll go run it on the hwy, but it was still getting down to 46 parked.
