F350 or Excursion??

Just need some input: I own a 2000 F350 wiith a 5.4 (no mods) and 260K on it. The truck is reliable and starts no matter what the weather. I have a chance to trade straight across for 2000 V10 Excursion..Ex is a bit rough and has 175K on it. I pull a 26ft. enclosed trailer with 1/4 midgets. And I have 5 kids..ok what are your suggestions..should I trade?

Yes. More power. Same fuel economy. But you will need to beef up the suspension on the EX. They are softer.

Unless you know the Ex well, I'd tend to stay with the vehicle I know. You may be getting into all sorts of excitement with very little benefit.

I would stay with the 5.4 as well. Especially since you say the ex is rough. Depending on the extra weight and gearing, the power difference may not be very much either.

You say the Ex is a little rough, so thats a call you need to be comfortable with. The Ex has almost 100k less miles and more power, I'd go for it if the Ex was acceptable. Is the F-350 a crewcab? The Ex will be able to seat all the little racers with more room than the pickup. Most EXs do benefit from some suspension help if used as tow rigs, not a big deal and the nice folks over in the EX forum will be happy to help you spend your money.
Where are you guys racing? We just finished our 5th and final year of QM racing, our 16 y/o son outgrew his cars (Heavy 160 & Heavy World Formula, everything is currently for sale! ) We raced all around PA, DE and NJ on dirt tracks only. Jeez, 5 racers, that can be a lot of prep work some weeks I'll bet!

I'd jump on that trade. Ford still puts the v10 in their f750's that gvw 37k. That says a lot for gas engine.

I drove a v10 excursion the same day before buying my f-250/5.4. The ride was more in charge with the v-10. show stopper for me was the excursion smelled like a dog kennel. so i bought the f-250 5.4. Like the f-250 since it has the full crew cab, and the truck beed has already been handy on half a dozen occasions.

if your truck does not have a full crew cab, then the excursion might be better if you do not need to do any truck bed hauling.

excusion v-10 has a very respectable towing capacity.

Pics or it didn't happen

I've got 4 kids...trust me you made the right decision. I had a crewcab F250 before this and having all the kids in the cab about drove me crazy. It's nice having the separation from them in the X
