So uhaul wont rent me a trailer. They say it wont fit...yet my uncle towed his rail buggy on one and its 80in from tire to tire. Per the internets, the 250 is 79.9 wide. U haul says their car trailer is good up to 5200lbs. Reg cab 2wd long bed is less I believe. Think itll work? Otherwise im having a super hard time as no one will rent me a trailer. Maybe a tow bar and just put the truck in neutral?

Tell them you are picking up an S-10! remember, this is the same company that won`t rent you a trailer if you are using an Explorer, but if you have a Mountaineer your OK! and yet they sold me a hitch for my 95 Explorer!!!

well its the same WB as the Excursion @ 137" if you compare that to the WB of my '98 expedition and look at how much trailer i had left you could tell pretty easily, I think it should fit.

cool. kinda excited to tow it tomorrow, never towed anything big with my excursion. i've towed my dads 16' enclosed trailer with his excursion and it towed well so mine should be the same, except my straight pipes without cats is going to be insane.......LOL

so the expedition is about 18" shorter...your going to be cutting it pretty close if its a typical 18' uhaul.

yeah just my no muffler is kinda loud towing my travel trailer...but i have mountains to deal with FL is flat.

U -Haul rented me a trailer last year . I pulled a friends silverado from the coast of North Carolina to Manchester TN. The trailer was crap though , frame and tongue was warped . When they say 55mph max speed , they mean it ! I should have just put tires and bearings on my 16 ft trailer and used it ! At least my trailer tracks straight at 80mph . But... amazing what you will do for a friend ..for beer and gas money .

Actually, they would approve of it. I was looking at getting a similar Expy and would have driven the Ex to get it. No problems with Uhaul.

Excursion towing Excursion is another story.

Get a AAA membership. Drive it around and call them for a tow. "it keeps stalling, I need a tow home". After they start hauling it home, follow behind....

actually, if you go by the numbers U-Haul shows, the Expedition's curb weight is well over the 5,290 listed as max weight allowed with an auto transport. my expedition with 2 passengers a full tank of gas was over 6,000 lbs when i ran over the scales.

i had rented the trailer to tow a dodge caravan and that was well within the spec.

http://www.uhaul.com/Reservations/Eq....aspx?model=AT

VJ idk if its going to fit.

Towed vehicle requirements

Must not weigh in excess of 5,290 lbs.
Must have a maximum outside-to-outside tire width of 79.25" Note: outside tire width over 75" must use late-model U-Haul Auto Transport (identifiable by silver galvanized color).
Must have a maximum wheelbase (distance from front axle to rear axle, usually posted on the driver's side door jamb) of 133 inches.
Low-hanging equipment on the vehicle being towed such as spoilers, air dams, ground effects, etc., may be damaged by contact with the Auto Transport during loading and unloading. Make sure there is enough clearance for these items.

yup i'm aware it claims its okay, but it is well over the weight of the trailer that is clearly the weight they do not want you to go over...hmmmm

the curb weight of a expy can be pretty drastic between a 2wd basic 4.6 and loaded 5.4 4x4 so the fact the site cant figure it out does not surprise me much.

Curb weight of the 250 isn't over 5200 though I thought?
