250 inline output

I am in possesion of a 1969 Ford 250 inline six engine and after looking at the specs, the 69 is rated at 155 hp and 240 ft. lbs. of torque, 72 they rated it a 99 hp and 184 ft. lbs of torque.

Did Ford actually change something in the engine or was it that the rating system change?

How much power does this engine really have?

Any clarification would be appreciated, thanks.

All the manufacturers changed their ratings from gross hp to net hp in 1972. More relistic when you see what the engine puts out with all the accessories hanging off it ~Bill
