I just got done changing the starter on my 7.3, now it not starting again, I've checked the the wires on the starter there is good connection, I'm changing the solenoid now but I noticed the starter is extremely hot? does that mean there a wire loose? any help would be nice
I went through all this but I didn't have a hot starter.... Have you tried starting it in neutral or pushing the gear selector all the way up? That's what my issue was....
okay the starter doesn't do anything but click, I got the starter from napa and for a good the little trip to town and back it started better than it ever has that full shut down and start up of about three times, I got home, shut it off whent to move my truck, and now I'm here, on a side note the blower fan for heat and ac stopped working could that be connected, where does the starter ground?
Check the solenoid\relay on the passenger side fender. Is that where the clicking is coming from? You may need another person to turn the key when you listen from under the hood. If your not familiar with it, it looks like a glow pug relay and is mounted vertical on the fender. You can also jump it in the same maner as a glow plug relay and see if the starter engages. Others will also come along soon with ideas, so be patient, its early. FTE will help you get it going. And welcome.
hey just wanted to say thanks, i broke down and towed my old girl in to the shop in town, on a funny note a dodge owner thought my truck was to heavy for him to tow me. once again thanks, i'm probable gonna be on here for a while.
I got a new NAPA starter a year and a half ago. It lasted 2 mos. Then click..... but thats it. Turned out that the motor brush end cap screws were loose. Tightened those and used some loctite. And yes.....I put in new Batteries when I bought the starter.
