Different tank shape between front and rear....so you want to know if the long bed truck side tank is the same shape (length) as a short bed truck.
Different materiel used for the tank between 2wd (metal) and 4wd (plastic) and the way there are mounted. Metal 2wd tank uses straps, plastic 4wd used uses metal skid plate.
The reason I asked is I have really been wanting to cut my long bed 4x4 f150 down to a short bed and I am still wanting to use dual tanks just like it has now. I looked in the lmc catalog and it didnt say long bed or short bed on the front tanks so I didnt know if they was the same and interchanged.
Sorry do not know for sure, but looking at the wheel base's covered in the chart for 124",133",138" and you get those tank part #'s and use that to figure out what is used on a SB as a mid ship tank, and see its used on a LB.
If I could print them out, and lay them side by side and do some highlighting to compare some #'s, it would be easier too figure out. Cause scrolling up and down and not loosing my place is driving me crazy.
Cutting the frame to get a SB seems extreme to me, but go for it and post a chop thread.
