Treadwright...

Anyone have any real world experience with these tires? I've seen articles about them on Jeeps and 1/2 tons but anyone ever used them on a 1 ton or bigger truck. I had some no name retreads on my old '86 F-250 (from my 1989 F-350, and my 1995 Chevy 1500, and my 1993 Suburban before the '86 got them, lol) and they worked good. Finally blew the last two out when I got run off the road hauling my horses home from a pull. Never had any experience with this brand though. Was looking at the Warden A/T's in a 265 for summer and the Crawler M/T's in a 235/85 for winter. Truck is a 2002 F-350 CC 4x4 DRW V10 Auto that goes maybe 7,000 miles a year. Any thoughts?

i've got a set of Treadwrights on my plow truck. I went back and forth between the crawler MT and the Axiom AT and finally settled on the Axioms

I shy'd away from the MT's for winter use because the tread blocks don't have any sipes. So that was the major reason for going with the Axioms

i have to say that the grip offered by the Axioms has exceeded my expectations. the grip on snow pack is absolutely outstanding, and stability going down the road is very good (no read squirm).

they look better in person than they do on their website .... for winter, i don't think i'd go with the MT's. the treadblocks are rather big and might tend to float over the snow, rather than bite into it.

i can probably post up some pics if you want.

other than that, they did take about 6oz of weight to balance, but they did both balance without a problem (i only bought two).

they look fairly decent, but don't expect them to look like a brand new tire. Mine came on BFG All-terrain casings, which was a plus IMO

I would go with the Claw B2B for the winter. Mine have Kedgegrip and studs, and they do have sipes.

Yea, they copy a lot of treads but I guess that's legal.

I'm probably going to try a set of these this fall thanks to Brent

can't beat the price even after shipping. it beats any of the "name" brands by over $200 before mount/balance

Here are some pictures of the Axiom AT's in the 235/85r16. They do look better in person than they do on the webpage.











notice that the snow is up to the centerline of the axles. the truck drove through it like it wasn't even there.


I'm VERY happy with the amout of grip they provide.

a note on pricing, though. you do have to be careful. The price of the tire cannot be beat, but with shipping sometimes it doesn't pan out. i think if you are looking at MT's you aren't going to find a brand new MT even close, but if you are looking at AT's the spread seems to get narrow.

i've been looking at some AT's for my expedition (265/70r17) and the price for their AT's (both the Warden and the Watchmen-B2B) are only about 10 bucks cheaper than a Cooper AT3 on Discount Tire Direct.

just check out all of your options price wise before pulling the trigger. as for quality, i'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

the axiom's i got were on BFG All Terrain casings. Which I thought was a huge plus. Of course, i had to put the white letters out ... i didn't want it to look tacky

yeah ... i'm pretty sure mine is going to suffer the same fate .. there's not much left of the body, but the darn thing just runs so good! ... might have to find another one with a bad motor/trans some day and swap everything over.... other than that, though, i'm pretty sure it is as nice as it was when it was brand new it's a tank though ... no doubt about that!

The Axiom doesn't come in the 265 size so I will probably go with the Claw again for the summer tires since they are bead to bead molded but I will leave out the Kedgegrip and the studs. Unless they come up with more BtoB tires by next summer, not this summer.

Just chatted with their rep Phoebe. She said they are transitioning all of their tread designs over to B2B but couldn't give me a timeframe. Announcements to be made through their website and Facebook. Good to know. I'd like to get the Warden, Watchmen or Guard Dog in 265 LRE in B2B.

the biggest thing i need is a better seat! the foam is about half gone from sliding in and out. been trying to figure out a cheap way of rebuilding the seat foam so i don't get such a back ache while driving it!

check out the watchmen B2B's. they are a load range E and look like a pretty decent tread for an AT.

I'd consider them more heavily, but it seems like the price spread on the AT's just isn't there. Generally speaking, shipping comes in at close to $20/tire. so the shipped price for those would be close to $133. at DTD, you can get cooper ATP's for $149 shipping included.

makes it hard to buy a retread when you can get new for nearly the same price.

that being said, tires like the Claw do seem to be a good deal.
