Questions

The truck we just bought my son has not run in a few years.
I have read the tips and trick section and have done some other reading as well.
We plan on putting some oil in the cylinders and re-priming the oil pump/engine by hand. The trucks odometer shows 28000+. It's safe to say that it's 128000+.
With that being said here are my questions:
1) Should we pump in a new oil pump?
2) Before priming, should we convert to the Chevrolet rocker arm conversion?
We plan on doing this no matter what, but does it make more sense to do it now?

The PO had stated that if he remember right, it had a pretty good/noisy lifter tick.

Thanks

Spray some WD in the plug holes then fire that biotch up and see what's up!

Then go from there...."lifter noise" could be an exhaust leak...you never know with some people.

Trouble with putting in a new oil pump is, you "might as well" do seals, then bearings, and you're that far so "might as well" do new rings..ehh might as well overbore with new pistons....

I'd get it running, do a compression check, then see what a mechanical oil pressure gauge says.

Mines got 137k but I just run 15w40 for now, and only did the head for more oomph for now...
