low pressure oil pump

OK guys just make in sure my brothers looking at a truck. ..guy said it has a low preasher...But He Said It Was Out Side By The Crank. ....and I was sure mine was under the oil pan....am I right or wrong guys....He said he didn't drop the pan or pull the motor to replace...only one I knew of out side the motor was the hpop...thansk....it's a 97 by the way

The "low pressure" oil pump is nothing more than what is called the "oil pump" on any other engine. The _pickup_ is in the oil pan, but the pump itself is driven off the crankshaft.

It seems like I have read quite a few posts on here about an oil bypass by the filter. Might be something to look into but I'm sure someone with more knowledge on the topic will chime in
