Can't see the picture too clearly, but looks like the intake and the crossover pipe are missing. I'd pick it up for that price, I could use one for my new truck.
Yeah it was an OK deal, I need to call ATS and see if I can get a compressor wheel for it. Here is a pic
The guy I got it from said it had a homemade cold air intake on it and the filter was about half sucked in lol so with that being said can you still get parts for these? Or I could just wait and call on Monday I guess
Yes I like the gauge set up as well, all in one unit lol. It even has the pyro probe, so I am money ahead right there. Good point I haven't even checked eBay yet

ATS won't have any parts, but that is a fairly common Garret T3 turbo and the parts should be fairly easy to obtain online. Type 4 (Russ) might be able to help you out... I know he has the nos castings and re-seal kits. Might shoot him an e-mail.
Problem is that you don't know if the assembly was balanced as a whole or individually, based on my experience with Garrett ****, it was probably as an assembly, which means your turbo will have to be balanced.
Youll also need a rebuild kit.
There are a couple options... You can get a new CHRA (Center section with wheels) from somebody like Russ (Typefour or TYP4) or send it off to be rebuilt, which is a service some of us provide.
Either way, even investing in that, you still got a good deal, considering what used ATS kits go for 500-700, non rebuilt.
So i seems if a turbo kit is found at a sweet price its best to pick it up. For us turbo newbies what should we look at when buying the kit. What parts can we live without and pick up else where? Shaft play and fin damage seem to be a given. Ask because i was offered a sidewinder "kit" stupid cheap like $200 cheap.
I just bought a 99 f250 7.3 and it sounds like the turbo makes a whistling sound when under load.I took it to a Diesel shop before I bought it and the guy said that it was the turbo making the sound and nothing wrong with it..is this normal? It does it only under load warm or cold. Thanks
