I have timbrens on my 2012 mainly for when I tow a travel trailer. I have a weight distributing hitch but did not like how soft the rear end was. I found the truck to feel more stable towing with them than without and it is nice to not have as much squat moving it around short distances when the WDH is not hooked up. They do make the ride stiffer when you are on rough roads but I haven't found it to be an issue.
The one real negative I have found is that when loaded up enough for them to just start engaging you can get a bouncier ride on the highway. I noticed this on a family road trip last year but only with certain highway conditions.
If I were looking now I would take a close look at the Torklift StableLoads as an alternative since you can disable them completely at will. I wasn't aware they existed when I installed the Timbrens.
I used Timbrens on my F250. Timbren can help you with selecting a rubber bumper that works for you (even if your model calls for a certain rubber mount). The key is getting the correct frame mount, then you can customize the height/size of the rubber bumper. The Timbren listed for my 250 didn't provide enough gap for normal ride (because I had a 5th wheel hitch that weighed the bed down) so they sent me a slightly shorter and smaller diameter rubber mount and it provided the correct amount of support and ride comfort. I'd use them again.
