The H2 suffers the same fate as the new concept trucks like the Chevy Cheyenne, they should all be registered as CARS. Since our favorite type of transportation has become the latest fashion trend we will continue to suffer. The capabilities and ride handling will continue to move toward those of your everyday car. Other than looking COOL what practical purpose does the bed of the concept Cheyenne serve? What will happen the first time I throw a load of wood in that cool plastic bed? That is the same fate that the Hummer is facing, and the part that really bothers me is that the original has served this country so well. If anyone knows where I can get a TRUE Humvee please contact me because I would like to purchase one, but if you ever see me in an H2 I hope your flexible because it is time to kiss your A$$ good-bye! All things are meant to improve with time, but can you put the H2 next to a Humvee and call it an improvement? If you are half the man that your father was should you receive respect just because you're his son? The H2 is a disappointment and a disgrace to the name.
comparing the h2 to the h1 and calling it a dissapointment is like comparing a ranger to a F-150 and calling it a joke. an h2 is half the price of an H1, of which you can purchace at any hummer dealership. If you really want a military spec humvee, go to ebay, theres retired surplus ones on there all the time. The h2 is probably the most capable SUV on the market, and i don't think theres one thing about them that clasifies them to be a car.
Ryan50hrl, no offense but your Ranger argument is a little off the mark. The differences between a F Series and a Ranger are a meant to be a little more pronounced, but using your size versus performance notion please tell me what a full-size Rubicon would be capable of? The point is I show contempt for ALL SUV's (STATUS UPGRADE VEHICLES), and I only wonder how long it is before my favorite line of ATV's are "sittin' on chrome". The H2 buyers are definitely not in need of such vehicles since the #1 complaint to JD Power is POOR GAS MILEAGE! Hello, McFly! The infiltration of the offroad market by hard-core suburbanites is the factor that is driving the price of vintage vehicles upward since the new vehicles lack the ability (although the 2004 F150 is showing some promise). I DO NOT have a problem with those who purchase these vehicles I just wish that the manufacturers could see the ever decreasing number of us who NEED a capable vehicle. Ryan50hrl, I would have thought that as an enthusiast you would be against the shifting focus of the H2 designers.
BUT TO THE GUY WHO STARTED THIS THREAD, CONGRATULATIONS!
GIVEN THE H2'S DECREASED CLEARANCE AND DIMINISHED OFF-ROAD ABILITY THAT ONLY INCREASES THE PRIDE YOU SHOULD TAKE IN PULLING HIM OUT!
DISCLAIMER: HardworkinFORD's present mind state has been diminished by an endless number of 14 hour days in a steel mill during the months of June and July, this is further compounded by massive beer consumption. Due to the above factors HardworkinFORD is not responsible for his comments and in the state of California would be proven innocent when faced with multiple accounts of murder (as long as he doesn't kill their pets). To those who may have been offended an advance notice of apology will be sent. Regards.
Try goin muddin in a week old Chevy avalanche then takin the two week old brand new 03 Superduty Powerstroke Fx4 in the texas gumbo to go pull his butt out. Did i mention in the back of the neighborhood at 2 oclock in the morning. The Superduty was doin good on its excursion to the avalanche once it hit a 3 foot hole full of water and got buried to the frame. It took an F650 w/ a 64000 lb winch to get the superduty out and a big 4x4 international tractor. The superduty was stuck in 4wd but popped out after ridin on a hard surface for a while. One we got back to our house bout a 1/2 mile away in the neighborhood we heard cops crawlin all over the place. I guess that loud A$$ tractor woke someone up and ppl got complainin. Owell we didnt get caught and a stupid fun memory ill never forget.
I'm against truck designers that put body clading on trucks, i'm against designers that put electronic shift transfer cases in, i'm against designers that put transfer cases without four low in. I'm never going to be against designers that put in electric locking rear diffs, tow clevises front and rear, 6 liter motors, on the fly air adjustable rear suspension or departure and aproach angles in the forty degree areas. Hummers are good vehicles in my opinion, would i spend 50 grand,,,,no, but in ten years when i can get one for 8 grand, might i buy one.....just maybe. And my ranger to F150 post was to compare H1's and H2's,,,,,not trucks and suvs in general.

By the way....i was the guy that pulled out the H2
Yeah I went back and checked afterwards, congratulations! I understood your Ranger reference, but the H2 isn't being advertised as a smaller, less capable Hummer. You are also missing my point that I am against the marketing of good WORK vehicles to people who have more money than brains. People who are "keeping up with the Jones' " anger me to no end. I am not saying that the H2 isn't capable, what I am saying is that the soccer moms and stuffed shirts buying these things should stick to cars. Next these people will decide that they like firearms and my next Model 70 will be available with platinum barrels and Versace slings.
