This is a little off topic, but is there a way to eliminate the vacuum pump when going to HB? I know we can use an electric VP to run the HVAC, but what about the serpentine belt routing?

You could disable the internal lever that actuates the diaphragm and keep the pump there as an idler, but why? The mechanical one places almost a non-measure-able load on the engine, an e-pump places a measure-able load on your charging system. I can almost comprehend a V belt system delete so you have one less belt to maintain, but overall I can't see a good reason for vacuum delete. It's just not a big power robber.

yes.i did it to chip truck.very easy.remove the vac pump and simply replace the belt with a shorter one.same routing.

as a small way of reducing parasitic drag.plus if you need to replace it anyway it's cheaper to replace with an e-pump than the oem unit.
the pump doesn't draw but just a few amps, and it only runs to build pressure after sitting or when you change heater controls for a few seconds, then right back off.even with no vac tank i can change from say, vent to defrost then back to vent, before it will run for another 10 seconds,so basically it's always off not drawing anything, and drawing less than the radio when it does need to come on for a few secs.

if the VP fails I could lose the belt if electric. Pump fails I can still drive
