Well here is the truck. She is running good so far. Had a few little irritating things I have had to fix but I guess that is expected for a truck that sat for 10 years without being started or even covered up.
Now I am making the list of things I want to replace or change.
4-6 in lift
Possibly a SAS conversion
Roll bar with KC lights
push bar
new interior
good dashpad
36 inch tires
fresh paint
etc.etc.etc
Yes. I believe it actually has a rebuilt 1973 460 in it. I looked at the casting codes and the date codes on the intake, block to determine that. D3 part number and 73 year date code. The The paint on the engine is pretty good and is the older style blue. It runs pretty strong. Also the tranny has been into also. There is silicone around the tranny pan and it definately has a shift kit in it. Hits pretty good from 1-2 and 2-3 shifts.
Rich, I dont know if I will be able to get away or not. I will see what I can do.
And so it begins... I just ordered the Rough Country 4 inch lift for this truck. Hoping to get 35 or 36 inch tires under it. Price wasnt too bad. Less that I expected. After some "negotiation" I picked it up for $529 shipped to my door. Springs, shocks, brackets, blocks for the rear, and hardware. I think I will try to get it installed this week. Then off to some tire shopping. I wonder if the hummer M/T military tires will fit. I did some measuring and if the kit is a true 4 inch, looks like they may fit and I believe my springs do have some sag in them from age.
I want to build this truck into a good hunting/mudding/ SHTF truck that will carry 6 people comfortably and go about anywhere( at least anywhere that doesnt need a tight turn) this thing takes a football field to turn around.
If you want to run Military hummer tires you will need 16.5 rims... they come in 36" and 37" tall and are 12.50 wide.
No the bead lock run flat rims will not fit the front end (too deep set, like 7") unless you get them recentered.
Not that I support un safe acts like making a device to hold your e-brake release handle out (that keeps your e brake from staying on) and getting good at e-brake U turns....then you will not need a football field.
