Hi Crystal, Thanks for stepping in! I am unable to PM until I have been a member at least 10 days.......just joined this weekend, so I will PM you the information you requested when I am able. I have an appointment at the dealership to take another look at it tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again!
No problem, Usseqi; if you need assistance before the 10 day waiting period is over, you can always call our Customer Relationship Center at 1-800-392-3673. I'll continue to keep an eye on this thread, too.
Well, back from the service department......couldn't duplicate the grinding sound on the dest trive, said the only noise they could hear was road noise from cupped tires. I guess I'll rotate them this weekend. Frustrating that the grinding noise has stopped for the time being. I guess I'll drive right to the dealership if/when it starts acting up again. The noise I was hearing is identical to what it was doing when they replaced the bearings, then the axles. We will just have to wait and see.
Was finally able to duplicate the issue for the dealership with the service manager along for the ride. It was diagnosed as the front inner hub broken away from the vacuum assembly. Took it in yesterday and they pulled everything and replaced the IWE and reinstalled the spindle and wheel.
Left the dealership, 10 miles down the road, grinding noise from the front drivers side wheel starts again. I turn right around and back to the dealership. Service manager hops in....down the road and he diagnosis it as a front wheel bearing problem. Ask's me if he can have it for a few days next week to see if they can figure it out. So I am going to drop it off next week for a few days.
I purchased it new in Feb. 2013
YTD: 48,xxx miles.
I've had both front wheel bearings replaced, both front axles replaced, the issue with the front hub and now wheel bearings failing again.
The dealership has been great and really trying to take care of me, but....I need a dependable vehicle for work and this thing is turning out to be anything but.
I'll keep the post updated as things progress and let you guys know how things turn out.
So, the dealership has had it for a few days now trying to get things figured out. Service manager said they were talking with Ford to try a few things. Pulled a bunch of stuff off the front end to see what they could figure out. Long story short, I get a call from the dealership this afternoon saying I could pick it up tomorrow morning. He said they replaced the passenger side wheel hub and the noise went away. He said he wants me to run it for some miles to see if it resolved the problem.
They covered everything under warranty, got me a rental for the time it has been in the shop and have been really great to work with. Ford customer service rep. called today to visit with me about how things were going, after I mentioned my concerns about when the warranty expires what I will be left with, they offered me an extended warranty at no charge to give me some piece of mind.
All things considered, I'd be lying if i said I didn't have my moments of frustration, but overall, the dealership really did take care of me and as long as it's fixed, I'm happy with the results.
I've heard some horror stories and some tearing apart Ford and their dealership, but my experience has been pretty positive overall..........minus the problem in the first place.
Thanks to those who gave me advice and input. I'll let you guys know after I get a few miles on it if it's fixed for sure.
