I swear there was just a thread on this the other day, but I can't find it. But the best I saw from that were either roof mounted or integrated in the dash under the stock radio.
I'm new to truck ownership, what's the purpose of having a cb?
I have my CB mounted in the little cubby under the 4x4 switch. I drilled a hole in the back to run the power and antenna wires and have it mounted with double sticky tape.
Bought mine from a friend when he sold his truck and he had the rack it's mounted in. For obvious reasons, this setup only works if there's no console in the middle. It also has the external speaker there and the mic hangs from the passenger side visor. I have a firestik antenna on the mirror.
A CB is pretty handy. If I'm on the highway, I can get updates on road conditions, traffic conditions, and find out where cops are sitting. Also, my Cobra has 8 different channels for weather. It has bluetooth, and my phone automatically links with it so I can talk hands free.

How do you like the CB mounted on the roof? I toyed with that idea for a bit, but decided I wouldn't care to have to reach up to adjust volume, squelch, etc. With mine, I don't even need to look at the CB, nor do I even need to take my arm off the center console.
I've seen several setups where the unit is mounted on the dash where a gps might normally go, but I think that'd be too distracting with the light, and too far into my line of sight.
I like it because it gave that useless overhead console something useful to do
Only thing u really ever need to adjust are Volume & Squelch & there's no need to be looking at it while doing it, Plus it keeps my Dash looking clutter-free
Will be honest, it was ALOT of tedious work w/the Dremel
I can imagine! My truck doesn't have the overhead console, so I'd have to make one and mount it. It'd be nice to have that area in the center open in case I ever need to squeeze a 3rd person in the center. But the rack it's mounted in does a nice job holding a trash bag though.
And the only other thing I mess with other than Vol. and Squelch is brightness, and to flip through the weather channels.
Do you have a "before" pic of that overhead console? Would a 29 fit? I LIKE/WANT!!!
Sorry no before Pic but the entry was barely modified, all the cutting was done to the inside black plastic housing &
NO a 29 will Not Fit (way too wide for this particular overhead console) so you have to use a 25

Yes, Headliner needs to be dropped down (attaching pic).
The Roof-Mount is the "best" option for Performance as u acquire a perfect Ground-Plane (this is the only CB I've ever had w/a perfect 1:1 SWR) plus there's No unsightly cord's or magnet's scratching your paint

Some of us use the CB's for work or play. I use mine for off roading, so all of use that are out can keep in contact in case someone gets stuck or broke down. I also use mine to keep in contact with some big rigs on the road.
Mine is mounted on the floor in front of my center console, but it will be moved to the roof between the visors as 1. Have a custom center console/sub box going in and 2. I'm used to the top cb as I lived in big rigs and that's where most are located.
