'97 Expy EB. So many issues!
Hello everyone. I have a '97 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer edition 4.6 liter V8. I have been having a lot of issues lately and I could really use some help. First of all, the coil packs are going out WAY more often than they should. When I replace them, I replace all of them. Did that 6 months ago and now they need replaced again. This is an ongoing issue and I am tired of replacing the damn things. Is there something that could be causing this?
Second, so I have been hearing this loud THUNK noise. You can feel it in the front end (Although my brother and boyfriend both insisted it was something in the rear). It just does this randomly. Weather driving fast,slow, it seems to be completely random and its just one loud thunk. Since my bro and boyfriend thought it was something in the back, they replaced the bushings in the rear sway bar, and the rear axle bearings...Its still making the noise lol.
Third, just a couple small issues that I thought I would mention just in case someone had the knowledge handy. My heater in the front dash and also my defrost do not work. Was working fine until my mom stuck my key into the lighter socket (Yes she really did!) and after that the heat barely comes out. Rear heater vents (between front and back seat, on the roof) work great. And lastly, my check engine light just loves to come on all the time. Got it fixed at the dealership, shortly after that it came on again.

Shes had routine maintenance, and has always been an amazing truck to me. Never left me stranded! Drove her all the way from Oregon to Iowa one summer. Has gone everywhere Toyota trucks have gone off road even! I love my truck, but I am just a chick trying to figure these things out.

When the COPs were replaced did the installer use dielectric grease on the COP boots before inserting them?
For the thunk, has anyone removed the rear driveshaft and greased the splines? There is a TSB which claims to solve driveline clunking this way.
For the heater, to me it sounds like the blower isn't running, have you checked for blown fuses?
