351w help

I have 1990 f250 that needs a new engine. We got the old engine removed and have bought a replacement engine. We bought a 1994 351w. I need a run down on how to swap all needed parts from the 1990 351w to the new 94 351w. We do not have much help on this project and any help from any of you guys would be appreciated.

These two motors are nearly identical so this will be pretty easy, the major difference is with the camshaft.. roller in the '94 and flat tappet in the '90. That's important because the drive gear on the distributor is different and the distributors are wired differently because of the location of the TFI modules on these trucks. So you will need to put the '94 drive gear on the '90 distributor and put that in the '94 motor, and swap the lower intake manifolds because there is no place for the IAT sensor in the '94. Next issue is the flywheel or flexplate, if both motors had the same transmissions you can use whatever one is in better shape, if not or if the trans for the '94 is unknown use the one from your truck. Lastly do not under any circumstances try to use any wiring that comes with the '94, strip it all off and throw it away and use only what is in your '90 truck. With all that done this motor is plug and play.

Thanks. I am pretty sure both trucks have the same transmission as both fly wheel\ flexplates are the exact same. So pretty much all I need to do is distributer, distributer gear, and lower intake? And of course the wiring.

As I am now checking both motors do have the IAT sensor in the lower intake so that will take away some trouble during this project,

Just verifying... the sensor you're looking at is drivers side midway front to back in one of the intake runners correct?

One more question. Do I need to remove the upper intakes to strip the wiring off of the engines? Thanks for helping me out.
