power steering

My power steering pump is leaking (to say the lease). What's involved in fixing this thing? Can I go to some power steering fluid instead of Type-F and reduce the leaking any? (I'm reaching here, I know....)

You really need to find the leak and repair to cure the problem, might just be a hose. Make sure you bleed the system properly.

If you have a 84-90 B2 I would get a new pump and hoses.The pumps are a pice of crap{fords better idea}. But you might get lucky and its just a bad hose. good luck!

If it's a pressure hose, just make sure you don't overtighten it at the pump end. I went thru two of 'em before I found out that the hose is supposed to be loose in the fitting there. I'd install a new hose and the first or second time I turned the wheel all the way over, the hose would pop it out the pump fitting.
