I just pulled the FICM out of my 04 F350 and re-soldered the inside. (It works!!) I can tell somebody else has already pulled it off once and tried to fix it. (They did a bad job) Mounting it back on the engine I'm wondering if there should be any kind of rubber vibration isolator between the FICM and what it mounts to? Mine doesn't, I'm just wondering if any parts might be missing? The way it mounts is kind of funny...
My 03 has rubber isolators. I cant imagine them NOT being there as vibration is what kills these in the first place - along with heat. the should be mounted inside the cab IMO.

Not sure what year it was but they moved the rubber grommets from under the FICM to under the FICM brackets. It shows it in one of the coffee table books. My 06 didnt have them either.

This ^^^ if you grab on to your ficm mounts and give them a giggle you'll see where they are. I think it was a 03 to 04 change since my 04 had the grommets down low.
If you have a big aluminum mount they there should be rubber pads between it and the bracket. The 2 piece stamp steel had them on the base were they mount to the valve cover

You mean the big rings on both sides of the FICM? I thought there should be some rubber in there. I think part of the bracket might have had some rubber under it instead, I'll have to go look again.

I can just imagine the discussion between Ford engineers. "Where should we mount this sensitive computer module? There's a good spot here directly on top of a giant pissed off diesel engine!"
Somebody previously tried to fix my FICM by covering the loose components with hot glue. It didn't work. My buddy actually did the soldering, but it came out great! Now I gotta go help him change his oil...

You mean like putting the main computer control module (GEM) inside the truck where it'd be safe - except for when the windshield leaks onto it..
