5R110 Excursion

Transmission gauge went to the High end of the scale - red.
This was on drive home from work level ground through town.
Shifts fine, fluid level is good, does not smell, looks good not brown or discolored.
rechecked the fluid level again this morning and took it for a drive, went about 2 miles on freeway and it pegged to the hot side and the engine light & check engine light came on with the tow haul light blinking.
waited about 20 minutes and thought about checking the filter lines to from the cooler back to transmission. Well the one line is warm the other three are relatively cool and the filter housing seems warmer than the three other lines.
Don't see any drips or leaks.
No codes yet?
Any advice on what to check and or do?
Thanks in advance.

Replace the temperature sensor inside the pan. While you're in there it would be a good idea to replace the small wire harness inside the pan, too. They are both known to fail and cause this exact problem.

I don't have part numbers. I go to the parts counter and ask for a transmission fluid temperature sensor and the associated wiring harness.

Mark,
I will call the dealer today for part numbers.
I noticed the coolant gauge is also reading a bit higher than normal? Is this also harness related?
Thank you for your help!

I don't understand why you need part numbers. I never have part numbers when I get parts.

So I got the sensor at the dealer for $19 + Tax.
On line or AutoZ0 was more with shipping and would have to wait.
Thank you for your help!
