I have a power steering leak that I cannot seem to accurately identify. It's been leaking slowly since last summer, but around December it started to leak bad. There's a large black spot in my driveway as well as a large spot where I park at work. Weird part is I've only had to add a little, like half a bottle, of fluid. My alternator went out so I figured while I'm in there I may as well fix the leak. Only thing is, I can't see where any one hose is the problem. I will say I believe I overfilled the reservoir once and it spilled out causing some of the problem, but that was a long time ago. The leak is all around the drivers side and toward the front, then below engine where it's dripped and been pushed back by air. The amount of fluid that is on the underside, in my driveway and at work doesn't add up to what i've had to add. I'm confused.
It's an '01 F250 7.3L. I've attached some photos, not sure if they'll help much.

How much oil has it been using ? And are you sure it is P/S fuild ? The reason I ask is it could also be the oil cooler front housing that is leaking oil. I would start by taking a can of brake cleaner and cleaning the area to see if you can pin point it.
Common power steering leak point is the hose rubbing thru against the shock mount. A new $45 hose protected by a strategically placed length of split heater hose fixed mine.
I'm thinking like BadDogKuzz, an oil leak in that area sounds like the oil cooler. Does the leak correspond to low temps? The o-rings get old and hard and fail to seal when cold. It can be rebuilt in a few hours for cheap.

I have the same problem, just started two weeks ago. Can't see where its coming from but the pump and hoses seem fine. It is ats fuild from the power steering. It will wind and only takes an once or so to refill. I can see it on the frame and coming down, maybe the fire wall, but not sure. I have been told it is the hydro boost that usually dose that. I hope not. My pump was always quite, but now it winds no matter what. Just less when full. I wish it was the pump and not the hydro boost. Do you know that Ford wants $428.oo dollars for the hose from the hydro boost to the gear box. What a rip off. Anyway I'll have to find it soon, I hate leaks.
