But If I use that I would need to change the u-joints to 1330 (supposing mine are originally 1310) which I would gladly do, but what about the CV joint? wouldn't that change too?.
Have you measured the cups and cross so you really know what joints you have?
I'm sure there are variations of driveshaft and I have no idea what was installed in South American models.
The fact that you have a D44 rear points to the disparity, and USA parts books are not going to help.
Perhaps your best bet is to get a whole shaft locally from a salvage of your model?
Well, got some measures, apparently the parts are 1330 Spicer series, so that's what I'm going to get. I'll check some sites, specially the sponsors, but will definitely go with the best quality/prices (Spicer). I want everything to be greaseable, to avoid this from ever happening again.
Hello guys, even if I bought the parts, getting the driveshaft balanced could be quite expensive in my country. Is there any source for a cheap/reliable, new driveshaft? personally I prefer the 1330 series, as it's a little tougher than 1310, but I would take any.
I saw the Bronco Graveyard option, but my problem is that I can only spend $300 yearly in internet purchases because of the currency control enforced in Venezuela. So I need to spend a maximum of 300 including international shipping. I'm trying to find a way around this but money is real tight at the moment...
I will try e-mailing them anyway, to see if we can work something out, but I don't think I can do much for $50 as the driveshaft I need is $249.
So email them, make sure that they have the driveshaft you can use...
When they confirm that they have the driveshaft you need, get them to quote a total price including shipping. I'll pay up to $50 for a gift certificate for you, and hopefully that will get around your $300 Internet purchase max. That way you are only having a 300$ transaction. How's that? How much will shipping be to you.
Ok guys, I'm not sure if I should be taking on your offer, since that doesn't seem appropriate (even though tempting, I can't deny), what I need right now is for any of you guys to give me a rough number on the driveshaft weight, no guesses please, just true facts, as I'm trying to calculate the shipping costs (I'll even accept you lame imperial units ). I wrote last week to the Bronco Graveyard and I'm yet to hear from them.
Maybe one of you has an old driveshaft laying around that you can weight.
I can't help on the weight for the driveshaft. As for the money thing, don't fell that is is not appropriate. You have given to this forum plenty, I don't mind giving back for that...
