In y'all's opinion what're the pros and cons of a 12v Cummings vs. a 7.3 powerstroke
Theyre very similar. Both reliable motors with affordable parts. Not impossible to get big power out of either one. My opinion is the Ford is a far superior truck to the Dodge and the 7.3 sounds way better. It has more of a V8 rumble than any cummins.
If you're talking about a swap it's not hard to accomplish, but replacing a 7.3 is far easier.
Stock vs stock theyre both slow. A fast diesel wasnt a priority when these motors came out. They can be built fairly easily to be quick though. I think the cummins is a little bit easier to build, but I'm not sure. I haven't spent any time working on one.
As a complete package I'll go with the Ford every time. 90% of ford and chevy guys will say the dodge pickups aren't the same quality.
What is it you're looking to do with the truck? If it's just hauling they'll both get the job done.
