I'm buying a 1994 f250 4x4 it originally had a 7.3 turbo E4OD auto in it and it blew up. My question is does anyone know what kind of mileage its going to get with the same tranny but it now has a 6.9 naturally aspirated in it. I'm moving from North Dakota to Florida and that's the rig I'll be taking. I'm buying it from my girlfriends grandpa and he always maintained the truck so I'm not worried it will make it there but he never did a mileage check he always filled it at the farm and drove it...I know he drive it to Montana and back to Bismarck North Dakota dragging a cattle trailer with cattle in it a few years back. He's no longer around to teach me about it or give me any info on what it had done to it. I'm a Ford fan thru and thru I've owned 28 vehicles and all of then except one had been a Ford
I was kinda hoping to hear mid teens. Is there anything I can do with out breaking the bank to get better fuel economy?
drive as slow as you can stand it.preferably just fast enough to keep it from downshifting from od.
take off super slow and easy like there's an egg under the skinny.
aero mods.skinny tires.
the best thing to do is accept it's a truck and have your primary vehicle a small car that can get as close to 40 mpg as you can find.
so basically, nothing you don't already know and nothing you want to hear lol.
Thanks... I'm not into trying to hotrod a pickup. I am buying it for the fact that I do construction and need something to pull a 27ft camper around for camping trips and a place to stay when I visit my grandparents in North Florida... I was really just curious to get an idea of mileage from ND to FL so I could kinda budget my expenses and have a general idea of what to expect with out a huge shock. I actually had it high ball guessed at 12mpg and 2200 miles and the cost per gallon at $4.25. Its going to be roughly $800 in fuel at my figures. I don't expect fuel to be that high and its actually only 2100 miles. But I will be posting the mpgs on here just for reference to others
