Isn't the proportioning valve part of the master cylinder? That should be readily available.

separate units on the 96. NLA and NL rebuilt by anyone.

take the old one apart and clean it. collection point for water, hair *****, corrosion in the system.

careful with the rubber plug and cap on the end, high pressure spring inside, disappears in the engine bay. don't ask how I know, 1st time years ago when I still could see.

Available as rebuilt unit from site sponsor Rock Auto. (A1 Cardone part # 122028, $115.60 plus $50 core charge).

Easy to get off but higher degree of difficulty to replace. Pull the rear brake line as far forward as possible without bending and start threading the line by hand to the RABS unit. Really easy to cross thread and ruin your expensive unit.

Also difficult to bleed the unit afterwards. Don't be surprised to see the "Antilock" warning light come on and stay on. Repeat bleeding process until light stays off with engine running.

Mine still comes on occasionally when driving for no apparent reason, then goes off a few minutes later.????

Even with the "Antilock" light on, the rear brakes still work normally, just the antilock function is disabled.

that's the RABS rear brake hydraulic pressure pulsation unit. Pulses the rear brakes when loss of braking is detected. Controlled by the RABS controller.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brake combination valve.

The brake combination valve consists of two sections: rear proportioning, and an interconnecting pressure differential shuttle. The rear proportioning valve reduces pressure at the rear brakes to avoid lockup. The pressure differential shuttle is a bypass feature that allows full application of rear brake pressure when front system pressure is significantly reduced.

they often corrode severely inside from water sucked up by hygroscopic brake fluid.
be careful removing the end nut, heavy spring pressure inside.

NOT OUR COMBO VALVE, CORROSION DAMAGE EXAMPLE ONLY

greenaero96 - my '93 was leaking out that back plug, got a replacement for like $8 at Pick N' Pull, no issues since. Definitely a boneyard item IMHO. I think they rarely go out,
