Back Up Camera

Ok this may be sort of a picky thing but we just got over our first storm of the year (dubbed the Pineapple Express) and rain drops on the backup camera made the screen almost un-viewable! Really? I was thinking maybe I should put some wax on it or something...but that really surprised me. What do you guys use on yours?

I've used Rain X on mine, but I still get snow pack on it regularly. No issues in rain though.

I've never heard of a backup camera that doesn't get caked with stuff on wet days. I just wipe it off every so often and don't worry about it.

Meguairs Ultimate Quick Wax and a piece of cloth in the driver's door pocket. They just threw down the liquid salt tonight for the snow we're supposed to get tomorrow so I'm ready for the cam to be useless for a few days unless I wipe it off.

This is my solution. Every once in a while when I notice the camera gunked up I walk by the tailgate on my way into a store and run a finger/sleeve over the lens.

LOL ok guys I really get the finger on the lens etc. This is my first backup camera and I was just a little disappointed that just a drop of rain effected it that way. I know it's petty...I will have to give it a good coat of some paint sealant and see how it does.

I suggest you follow the advice of those who answered your question. Putting paint sealant on the lens is liable to screw it up permanently. Wipe it off with a soft cloth or your finger.........

Buck...paint sealant is like putting wax on your vehicle...but it lasts longer. When you are in the rain and the tailgate is constantly getting wet...I am not going to wipe the lens every time I get back in the vehicle or need to back up while driving it...but thanks for your suggestion

Yep I will try something like that I just didn't realize it could get fouled up so easily.

Thanks everyone for your replies!

I thought about putting Zaino on mine. It is cold outside though so I didn't.

I wipe it off. And I go to the car wash (touchless) every week anyway.
