Hey to all, has anybody noticed the drivers side lower rear leaf spring has twisted to the side on your truck? My 2001 F150 SuperCab 4x4 has. I saw a 99 the same way. It is just the bottom leaf and it sticks out in the rear about 1/2". Is this common or should I take it back to the dealer while the warranty is still good?

Hi, Do you mean the bottom leaf sticks out to the side of the spring pack or straight out of the back without touching the leaf on the top? If it is to the side , I don't think it's a big deal for the short term but I would fix it especially if it's on warantee. If the leaf has a delrin pad on the top at the ends it will wear them out faster and eventually cause some noises. It is a 15 min. job and it may mean the u-bolts need to be torqued. John
my 97 has that same very problem on the left side. I know how to fix it but just have never got around to it. Basically you have to release the weight from the leaf springs then you can slide it back into place. Your prolly gonna have to take those U-bolts out though..........
I dont know why they get like that. Some of them do and some of them dont. Usually it is the bottom "overload" leaf that is out of place but on the earlier ones the bottom regular leaf would move too and Ford came up with a recall to fix that. Basically we just put clamps around them.
Are these hapening on the same corner of these vehicles?? If so, maybe the torque from the enging might be causing this. I know on Jeeps that the engine causes the jeep to sag slightly on the pass rear coil.
please let me know what you find out about this I just noticed mine a couple of weeks ago doing the same thing except on mine its on both sides I have a 98 reg cab the bottom leaf is out to the side about 1/2".
Sounds the same as mine. I only see 1 band on the springs and it is pretty far up on the front side of the axle. It may be a week or two before I get out there to get it checked, but I will post my findings as soon as I get it looked at by my Ford dealer.

Well, I took it to the dealer today. They fixed it. The mechanic said that the gap between the u-bolts is a little wider than the springs and this gives them room to move. It at least looks better now.
